The Daily Office is an ancient practice that uses daily prayers to mark the times of the day. For Anglicans, this generally comes in the form of the two main offices of Daily Morning Prayer and Daily Evening Prayer.

The Purpose of the Daily Office: The sanctification of time – a reminder that all time is sacred since all time belongs to God and the sanctification of the individual – a way to draw a person closer to God.

Congregations meet for a screening of

The Little Church on the Corner,

a documentary history of St. George's.

Members of St. George’s and St. Columba’s Episcopal churches gathered Sunday, April 19, 2026, at St. Columba’s for a screening of the documentary, The Little Church on the Corner. The outgrowth of an oral history of St. George’s that has been presented to the Washington, D.C., public library, the film examines St. George’s nearly century-old history, first as a chapel and then as a full-fledged congregation in the Episcopal Diocese of Washington.

The Little Church on the Corner also examines the historical relationship between St. George’s and St. Columba’s, and how St. Columba’s benefited from the sale of the former St. George's Chapel in Washington's Reno

City neighborhood almost 100 years ago.

St. Columba’s has established a Beloved Community Fund,
dedicated to repairing harm and building new relationships. Through that fund, the church’s vestry has approved a significant financial commitment to St. George’s as an act of reconciliation. St. George’s will receive $164,000 from the Beloved Community Fund in four yearly installments.

This is an act of justice, peace, and love, part of the work of reconciliation within the Body of Christ. It honors who we are as a parish, and it opens the door to a new relationship between our two congregations, a relationship marked by our joint

attendance at the screening of The Little Church on the Corner.

Bishop Mariann Budde of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington; the Rev. Marilyn Jenkins, former priest-in-charge of St. George’s; The Rev. Dr. Hillary Raining, rector of St. Columba’s; numerous clergy and diocesan leaders committed to Black ministries and racial justice; and scores of parishioners from both congregations attended to witness this important moment for St. George’s, St. Columba's, and for the Diocese.

Hold this news with prayer and hope. God has been faithful to St. George’s for generations, and God continues to lead us forward.
